Libungan, Cotabato – To strengthen sustainable forest management, the Local Government Unit (LGU) of Libungan partnered with DENR-PENRO Cotabato to conduct a two-day Orientation and Levelling-Off Workshop for the Forest Land Use Plan (FLUP) on April 29–30, 2025. The workshop brought together barangay officials and representatives from 13 forest-influenced barangays, members of the LGU and PENRO Technical Working Groups (TWGs), and other stakeholders.

The workshop focused on fostering a shared understanding of the FLUP process, aligning all parties involved in crafting a plan to manage and protect Libungan’s forestlands. Participants learned about the legal frameworks, planning steps, and the importance of integrating the FLUP into the Comprehensive Land Use Plan (CLUP), in compliance with national policies such as Executive Order No. 318 (2004) and the DENR-DILG Joint Memorandum Circular No. 1998-01.

With technical guidance from DENR-PENRO Cotabato, participants engaged in group activities and planning exercises to ensure that the FLUP will be inclusive and practical. This marks a significant step toward achieving climate resilience, biodiversity conservation, and effective forest land governance in Libungan.
