MAKILALA, Cotabato — The Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR)–PENRO Cotabato brought its “DENR on Wheels” initiative to Barangay Guangan, an identified End Local Communist Armed Conflict (ELCAC) barangay in Makilala, Cotabato on July 10, 2025, to bring government services closer to the people.
The activity distributed 700 indigenous tree seedlings to residents, including 200 narra, 100 molave, 300 lumbayao, and 100 saguimsim, supporting local reforestation and greening efforts.
Information, Education, and Communication (IEC) materials-flyers and brochures on the conservation and protection of natural resources were handed out to raise public awareness and strengthen environmental stewardship.
DENR personnel also provided on-site consultations and assistance on residential and agricultural free patents, chainsaw registration, tree-cutting permits, and wildlife registration, making government services more accessible to the remote barangay.
The “DENR on Wheels” initiative is part of the agency’s commitment to promote sustainable development, improve environmental governance, and support peace and development efforts in ELCAC-identified areas.
