Kidapawan city, Cotabato \u2013<\/em><\/strong>A female King Cobra (Ophiophagus sp.) measuring 81 centimeters was successfully rescued in Purok Marang, Poblacion, Kidapawan City, through the swift and coordinated response of the community, local authorities, and wildlife experts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A clinical assessment revealed the snake to be in stable condition, with only minor abrasions and tick infestation noted as the primary concerns. No life-threatening injuries were found. The cobra is currently under close monitoring for full recovery, including wound management, parasite treatment, and observation for any potential visual impairments at University of Southern Mindanao (USM)-Wildlife Rescue Center.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The rescue was made possible through the immediate action of Tribal Council leader Junecil Baguio, who promptly coordinated with the City ENRO\u2013Kidapawan, leading to the rapid intervention of the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR)\u2013PENRO Cotabato and Wildlife Enforcement Officer (WEO) from the USM.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The King Cobra, known as the world\u2019s longest venomous snake, plays a vital role in maintaining ecological balance by controlling populations of other snakes and small animals. The DENR urges the public to avoid harming wild animals and to immediately report sightings to local authorities or the nearest DENR office to ensure safe and proper handling.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
